The Buffalo Sabres got off to the right start in the second period when Andre Sekera scored a pretty backhand goal in the second period, but they allowed the Toronto Maple Leafs to get the next two and now trail 3-2.
The Sabres have been troubled by spurts of poor defensive play and questionable goaltending. However, Ryan Miller made a big save that seemed to spark Buffalo on the penalty kill late in the second. The Sabres will start the third period short handed as Jochen Hecht will serve the remainder of his unsportsmanlike conduct penalty. He was also whistled for roughing on the same play, giving Toronto a four-minute power play. Toronto has been unable to score on the power play thus far.
Steve Ott had a breakaway that was denied by James Reimer that could have tied the game. Buffalo will hope to find some offense and tighten up defensively for the third period.Tags: Buffalo, Buffalo Sabres, Hockey, NHL
