The Buffalo Sabres had plenty of opportunities, but they were unable to solve Carolina Hurricanes goaltender Dan Ellis after two periods and the game remains scoreless.
Buffalo controlled the tempo of the game while playing most of the second period in the Carolina end. However, when the play did end up in Buffalo's end, Ryan Miller proved he was up to the test. Miller's best save of the night came after a poor giveaway by Tyler Myers. The Hurricanes broke on a two-on-one and Miller made the save, and stopped the rebound shot as well.
