Rochester Americans to Return to First Niagara Center

For the second time this season, the Rochester Americans will play a home game in Buffalo at the First Niagara Center. The game, which will take place Friday, December 28, is against the Lake Erie Monsters and will be played whether the NHL and NHLPA come to an agreement on a new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBS) or not.

"There's a little compression in the market with four games in six days so we wanted to relieve a little of that market fatigue," Sabres president Ted Black said.

Tickets for the game go on sale December 1st at 9:00 AM EST and start at $15 and a family pack is available for $79 that includes four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas and four popcorns.

Those who already had tickets for the originally scheduled game in Rochester can go to Buffalo at no additional charge. If they opt to not attend and decide to play poker at PartyCasino.com instead, the tickets can be used for a future home game this season or a full refund is available.

Black says the motivation for this move, despite the financial struggles due to the ongoing NHL Lockout, is not about money … at all. Instead, it's about taking advantage of the situation and exposing Buffalo-area fans to the Rochester Americans.

"There are Buffalo fans in Rochester and I want to make sure there are Amerk fans in Buffalo," Black said. "By choosing that Friday game, we do want to expose more Buffalo fans to the Amerks."

The game will now be televised in Buffalo and Rochester on Time Warner Cable (TWC) SportsChannel, while the December 7th game has been dropped. And if you're in the Buffalo area, missing hockey like the rest of us, this is a fantastic alternative.

The Lake Erie Monsters are the farm club of the Colorado Avalanche and play out of Cleveland.
