The NHL and it's players union are set to meet again Wednesday after several hours of negotiations the past two days. Since canceling the Winter Classic, this is the first round of negotiations that have taken place.

While it does not appear that a deal is imminent, it does start to spark the conversation about whether the players and owners are willing to allow the season to get canceled if it gets to that point.

Buffalo Sabres forward Thomas Vanek has returned to Buffalo after a stint with his hometown team, Graz. In 11 games overseas, Vanek tallied five goals and 10 assists, giving him more than a point a game.

The season is in a break currently and Vanek is back with his family, hoping the NHL will resume play before the break is over.

"It was a once in a lifetime experience and I will never forget this month," Vanek said. "Now it’s cross your fingers so we have NHL hockey back soon!"
