The fact that there could be a full season, even after the first two weeks of the season had been canceled, could be considered a labor miracle. Both sides have been in continuous contact, which is a far better situation than in 2004. However, each side has claimed that they have remained stagnant for quite some time, and as most recent as last week.
NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said that this proposal is one that the league considers fair and hopes to get the deal done. The player's association has asked for time to go through the proposal before making a decision.
As fans cling on to this last glimmer of hope they can only sit and wait for the NHLPA to make its decision. A vote in the affirmative would mean the full season would be saved and would begin on Nov. 2. A rejection of the proposal could mean a very long wait for a resolution, and, possibly, the cancelation of the 2012-2013 season.Tags: Buffalo, Buffalo Sabres, Hockey, NHL
