With the Buffalo Sabres and the rest of the NHL's players less than 24 hours from being locked out, Sabres GM Darcy Regier loaned 20 players Friday to the AHL's Rochester Americans.

Several players who will likely shuffle off to Buffalo once the lockout ends are on the list, including Marcus Foligno, Zemgus Girgensons and Cody Hodgson, who despite being in line for the No. 1 center job is still eligible for demotion.

The full list of AHL loans is as follows:

  • FORWARD: Luke Adam, Riley Boychuk, Brian Flynn, Marcus Foligno, Zemgus Girgensons, Cody Hodgson, Jacob Lagace, Jonathan Parker, Kevin Sundher, Shawn Szydlowski, Corey Tropp, Phil Varone
  • DEFENSE: Alex Biega, Nick Crawford, Jerome Gauthier-Leduc, Matt MacKenzie, Brayden McNabb, Mark Pysyk
  • GOAL: Connor Knapp and Nathan Lieuwen.

Forward Kevin Porter and defenseman Nick Tarnasky have been loaned to Rochester pending waivers.

Forward Joel Armia has been loaned to Finnish club Assat. Fforwards Daniel Catenacci (Owen Sound) and Mikhail Grigorenko (Quebec) – who may also contend for an NHL job when training camp opens –  have been loaned to their respective junior clubs. Goalie Andrey Makarov, who signed a three-year, entry-level contract Friday, has been loaned to his junior club, the Saskatoon Blades.
