While some Buffalo Sabres fans soured on goalie Ryan Miller last season, the programmers at EA Sports apparently did not.
Miller has earned the top ranking among goalies in EA Sports' hockey franchise, "NHL '13." He went up one point from last year's game and has a 91 overall rating. None of his individual scores are tremendous (he garnered a 92 rating in five-hole reflexes, shot recovery and aggressiveness), but his scores don't ebb or flow much, creating (in a world of computer code) an extremely efficient netminder.
Vezina Trophy winner Henrik Lundqvist of the New York Rangers was one point behind, while the Los Angles Kings' Jonathan Quick was third with a 90.
Topping the forwards were Pavel Datsyuk of the Detroit Red Wings and Sidney Crosby of the Pittsburgh Penguins, who each got a 95 overall rating. The Boston Bruins' Zdeno Chara was the top defenseman with a 91 overall rating.
"NHL '13" will be released Sept. 11. This will be the 21st version of the game.
