The Buffalo Sabres announced Tuesday that it has opened the registration for Street Hockeyfest, the annual 3-on-3 street hockey tournament, which is scheduled for Aug. 19.
The tournament hit a milestone last year as 200 teams participated. The tournament will be held on Perry Street in front of the First Niagara Center and the check-in process will begin at 8 am, with the games beginning at 9 am.
The tournament is open to boys and girls who are 17 years old and under. Each team will be comprised of five players and there will be a fee of $125 per team. The tournament will be played in its entirety even if it rains. Teams will be broken up into divisions by age and each team is guaranteed to play in at least three games. All participants will receive a T-shirt and hat and division winners will receive trophies.
Participants in the tournament must bring their own equipment and registration will close on Aug 13, or when slots are full. To reserve a slot for a team, visit Sabres.com or call (716) 855-4144.
